PEOPLE : Employment

For both economic and social reasons, we hire local firms in the construction phase of a project. Expertise that comes from outside the local region usually requires accommodation, and since the construction of a project lasts around six months this has a knock-on effect on the local economy.

When schemes become operational some permanent local employment is also generated.

Employment related to tourism is also important . At Aberdulais and at the Lowerymore scheme in Donegal, developments such as fish-passes attract visitor interest. The ever-increasing support for renewable energy brings intense interest in our projects.
