One aim of the project was to increase tourist access to the site. The powerhouse contains a viewing area for people to see the control equipment. A special lift was installed to give disabled people access to the viewing gantry. There are panoramic views of the waterfall and the gorge below. As a result the site won the 1994 "BT Countryside for All" award for Wales.
